What is a Dryvit listed contractor?
Dryvit, through its exclusive independent Distributors, provides only Dryvit specific product knowledge information to contractor firms selected by the distributor. This information is specific to a particular Dryvit system and the various generic details that are generally encountered in typical construction. Contractor firms that attend product knowledge sessions are provided with application instructions, typical construction details, and other relevant information for the particular system or systems that are the subject of that session. The contractor firms sign an agreement stating that they understand the information they were provided and that they are solely responsible for their work. Dryvit then issues a certificate of attendance to the firm and maintains a list of their names as having attended the product knowledge session.
What is Dryvit’s responsibility for listed contractors?
Dryvit has no legal relationship with listed contractors other than recognizing they have attended product knowledge sessions for the specific system or systems for which they are listed. Dryvit does not warrant or guarantee in any way the work performed by these independent contractors, nor should the contractor’s listing be relied upon by any third-party as a representation by Dryvit as to that contractors capabilities.
Does Dryvit recommend specific contractors?
Dryvit does not provide specific recommendations of contractors. Dryvit can provide a list of contractors that have attended product knowledge sessions for specific Dryvit systems.
How should I choose a contractor to apply a Dryvit system?
Choosing a contractor to apply a Dryvit system should be selected with the same care as choosing any other construction professional. Here are some suggestions:
Ask the local Dryvit Distributor for a list of contractors experienced in your type of project.
Ask to see their license and call the appropriate licensing agency for county license or state license, if licensing is required, to verify the status and insurance.
Ask for and verify references from past customers.
Check with the local Chamber of Commerce and the Better Business Bureau.
Beware of alleged contractors who ask to be paid in cash or ask for large payments up front.
- Beware of contractors that tell you they can provide another system that is “just like Dryvit”.
What about warranties for my Dryvit system?
Upon completion of your Dryvit project, your Dryvit listed contractor can request through the local distributor a specific warranty for your Dryvit system. The Dryvit Warranty covers the Dryvit products used by the contractor, but does not cover workmanship. Workmanship/installation warranties have to be provided by the contractor doing the work. In order to receive a Dryvit Warranty, the contractor must use all Dryvit supplied materials.
What if I have questions?
First, you should discuss any issues and problems with the contractor you hired to install your Dryvit system. If you have questions or concerns regarding the Dryvit materials used on your project, contact your local Dryvit Distributor or Dryvit Customer Service.
