The Wade, a mixed-use complex in the River Market of downtown Kansas City, includes 245 apartment units, a two-story podium parking garage and retail spaces. For the exterior walls of this new build, the team chose prefabricated panels, which included metal framing with gypsum sheathing and a pre-applied air barrier, known as USG and Tremco’s Securock® ExoAir® 430 system. Tremco’s below-grade waterproofing, TREMproof® 250GC and TREMDrain drainage, were also used on the project.
After the wall panels were hung, Installtec installed the Dryvit Outsulation® Plus MD system over the Securock ExoAir 430 backer panels. They incorporated a two-toned Dryvit Custom Brick finish to replicate the natural color variation in traditional brick masonry, as well as Sandpebble finishes in the colors of Dover Sky and Licorice.
In addition, Installtec fabricated various EIFS architectural shapes featuring a Dryvit Sandblast finish in the Van Dyke color. These elements were strategically placed to simulate cast stone details and complement the brick aesthetic. Installtec noted that projects like this “showcase how the right combination of materials, expertise, and teamwork can elevate a project from concept to reality.”
