Dryvit StucCoat® Stucco Wall Assemblies

Combining old world stucco techniques with new world technology, Dryvit StucCoat systems provide the stucco siding you want with the performance you need.

StucCoat systems are complete code-compliant stucco assemblies for above-grade exterior walls, soffits and ceilings in residential and commercial buildings, which can be installed over a variety of substrates in a single- or multiple-coat system. They can even be used as a stucco patch for areas in need of repair. Reference our Restoration Guide or contact your local Dryvit representative for instructions on applying stucco patches.

Dryvit stucco walls are available in a variety of stucco textures and can be finished in any of our 250+ stucco colors, which include high-performance StratoTone™ pigment technology for bold, lasting color.

StucCoat systems also incorporate a fluid-applied air/water-resistive barrier for moisture management and can be enhanced with a reinforced crack isolation membrane, continuous insulation and even factory-pre-applied air barrier options. Fire-resistant assemblies are also available*.

FAQs about Stucco and EIFS

EIFS (pronounced “EEFS”) is an acronym for “exterior insulation and finish system”. It is sometimes also referred to as EFIS (pronounced “EEF-IS”). EIFS is a non-load bearing insulative, multi-layered wall cladding used in all different types of building construction, including new builds and renovations.

The exterior finish on EIFS cladding may look like stucco, but it is a complete system with layers of insulation and reinforcement underneath for energy efficiency and durability. EIFS is also lightweight. Stucco, on its own, does not have insulation and can be heavy, requiring several layers of product to achieve the impact resistance and coverage required. For more about the difference between EIFS and stucco, read this blog post

The base coat is reinforced with fiberglass reinforcing mesh. In areas prone to abuse or high impact, a second layer of heavier mesh (20 oz/sq yd), applied first, can be added to the standard mesh (4.3 oz/sq yd).
