Clinton Community College in Plattsburgh, New York, faced significant challenges with one of its over 100-year-old building. Heating costs were skyrocketing, plaster on the north end was failing and the structure was not up to modern environmental codes. The college needed to restore the building to improve energy performance and enhance comfort for students, staff and faculty, but still maintain the historic appearance.

Dryvit’s Outsulation Plus MD system provided the ideal solution. First, a fluid-applied air and moisture barrier was applied to the existing masonry and areas with damaged stucco were repaired. Insulation was added to improve energy efficiency, and custom foam designs recreated architectural details to preserve the look of the original cladding. Lastly, a new durable coating was applied to seamlessly match the existing buildings on campus.

The façade renovation ultimately modernized the building performance while preserving the historic campus aesthetic. In the process, Dryvit EIFS helped to extend the building’s lifespan, proving to be an efficient and sustainable choice for the school.
