Le Méridien's, The Joseph, a 13-story luxury hotel, is a striking addition to the Columbus skyline, combining modern design with innovative building technologies. Designing the façade of this 135-room hotel presented unique challenges due to its desired aesthetics, energy needs, code restrictions and urban location.
To accommodate the tight construction site which would've been too small for field-applied cladding systems, exterior wall panels were the best route using Dryvit's Outsulation® Plus MD system as a lightweight, high-performance cladding option. Integrated with Backstop® NTX, a robust air- and water-resistant barrier, and AquaFlash® for seamless rough opening protection, interior work began earlier than expected.
Little Construction assembled Dryvit's prefabricated Fedderlite® panels, combined with Custom Brick™, Reflectit™ and Lymestone™ finishes, in their offsite facility for more efficient installation in the field. The EIFS panels' lightweight design and Z-clip fasteners with Dryvit's AP™ adhesive allowed workers to install upwards of 30 panels a day. Reitter Stucco completed the 1,250 exterior wall panels in just three months. The result is a visually stunning and energy-efficient façade to attract guests, at the same time exceeding R-value code requirements and saving significant time and cost on the project.
