When Minneapolis was chosen to host the 2018 NFL championship game, the Mystic Lake Casino raced to build their new 12-story hotel and convention center in time. To speed the project and minimize weather delays, a prefabricated exterior wall system was proposed as an alternative to field-applied EIFS.

Swanson & Youngdale, the Lutz Company and Dryvit showcased the Outsulite® panel to the general contractor, designers and owner, who all signed off on the accelerated, offsite construction approach.

It took just 37 working days for a five-man crew to install 45,000 square feet of panels on the hotel tower. The 160,000-square foot convention center used field-applied Outsulation Plus MD because of a curved wall design, which took months to complete.

Ultimately, the use of the exterior wall panels shaved six months off the original timeline, ensuring the spaces could open in time for the big game.
