The preferred method to attach EIFS to painted surfaces is to use mechanical fasteners or expanded metal lath. Painted surfaces require special attention, because although the EIFS will generally bond to the paint, adequate bond between the paint and the wall will need to be assured. Compatible primers, such as Prymit, may be necessary to ensure this adhesion.
