Outsulation® Plus MD System with Exterior Fire Blocking

Overview 

The Outsulation® Plus MD System with Exterior Fire Blocking is an Exterior Insulation and Finish System (EIFS) that incorporates moisture drainage, an air/water-resistive barrier, foam plastic continuous insulation and non-combustible ROCKWOOL Frontrock® mineral wool insulation. Utilizing the concealed Dryvit Drainage Track (J-Track), all incidental moisture is diverted around window and door openings, ultimately exhausted at floor lines and at grade. This allows for additional flexibility in window design and the elimination of weep tubes at window sealant head joints, increasing detailing aesthetics and simplifying sealant application.

This system takes advantage of the non-combustible nature of mineral wool without compromising the ability to smooth and level the EPS insulation board to improve overall aesthetics when compared to EIFS that are entirely comprised of mineral wool insulation.

System Compatibility

Approved Substrates (Can Be Used With):

• Exterior grade gypsum sheathing meeting ASTM C1396 (water-resistant core or Type X core)
• Glass mat sheathing meeting ASTM C1177
• Exterior fiber reinforced cement or calcium silicate boards
• APA Exterior or Exposure 1 Rated Plywood, Grade C-D or better, 1/2 in. minimum (C face out)
• APA Exterior or Exposure 1 Fire Retardant Treated (FRT) Plywood, Grade C-D or better, 1/2 in. minimum
• APA Exposure 1 Rated Oriented Strand Board (OSB), 1/2 in. minimum (Note: Backstop NTX Texture not recommended for field of wall over OSB)
• Unpainted, unsealed concrete
• Unpainted, unsealed CMU
